5th Science2Society-Meeting: engaging with multi-stakeholder groups

April, 2018

The 5th face-to-face Science2Society-project Meeting took place in Vienna (Austria) from 19 to 20 April, 2018.

After a quick review of the status of the 7 Pilots, the focus of the meeting was how to disseminate the S2S findings at large. The 7 Pilots represent important Interactions Mechanisms between University and Industry, for how to create new business and improve innovation systems across Europe.

The next challenge of the project consortium will be how to foster future replication of these mechanisms. In this respect, the consortium partners will elaborate analytic models based on different users, applications and needs of specific types of users. To support even more this replication, blueprints will be developed and disseminated to different stakeholders. A successful example of dissemination was the Expert-talk, organized in the same week at the TRA 2018 in Vienna with the motto “Being faster, more efficient and more effective”. The event emphasized the recent results of these interaction mechanisms to a very broad audience from Academia as well as Industry.

The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the development of Learning and Implementation Alliance (LIA), intended to be an online community platform to share knowledge and know-how between science and society. As LIA is to be continued as a self-sustained model also after project end, 5 different scenarios were presented and discussed. The purpose of this workshop was to elaborate potential drafts of business plans and evaluate the risks of different scenarios. The workshop was concluded with an open discussion which is the most suitable scenario, how to make it effective and sustainable after project end.
